We walked into Queenstown from our hotel. About a mile, all downhill. The last part of the walk took us through this pretty lakeside park, called St. Omer's Park...
...and it also took us past the boxy Novotel Resort.
We stopped along the way to play with these two beautiful Alaskan Malamutes...
...before encountering this hideous excuse for architecture, right across the street from charming St. Omer's Park..
Queenstown has a lovely monument to its war dead, in a sweet little park next to Lake Wakatipu...
...and close by is this monstrosity, the Parkroyal. Note the hideous trellises on the left and right side of the hotel; they are even worse in person.
St. Peter's Anglican Church, a little gem right in the middle of Queenstown.
The portico to St. Peter's.
Queenstown street scene.
Towards evening, we rode up the gondola. The departure station is a short 5-10 minute walk from central Queenstown.
At the top of the gondola, you get great views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables.
Queenstown, the lake, and the mountains.
